• Computation:

  • one member selects the key (centralized) – key distribution
  • all members contribute to the key (contributory) –
    key agreement

• Distribution:

  • one entity distributes the key (centralized)
  • more members are involved – structures (trees) that optimize the key distribution (distributed)
